Description: In a town where gossip thrives like the ivy that clings to its mansions, where mysteries lie behind manicured hedges and skeletons hide in every walk-in closet, four perfect-looking girls aren't nearly as perfect as they seem.
Three years ago, Spencer, Aria, Emily, Hanna, and their best friend Alison were the girls at Rosewood Day School. They clicked through the halls in their Miu Miu flats, tanned in their matching Pucci bikinis, and laughed behind their freshly manicured fingernails. They were the girls everyone loved but secretly hated—especially Alison.
So when Alison mysteriously vanished one night, Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna's grief was tinged with . . . relief. And when Alison's body was later discovered in her own backyard, the girls were forced to unearth some ugly memories of their old friend, too. Could there be more to Alison's death than anyone realizes?
Now someone named A, someone who seems to know everything, is pointing the finger at one of them for Ali's murder. As their secrets get darker and their scandals turn deadly, A is poised to ruin their perfect little lives forever.

Review: I love this series. This is a great quick read. As I read this series, I can see this actually happening in high school. The mean girls in my high school would have done the things that A has done.

This book had me so entertained and I was sucked into it. After reading every chapter my jaw was dropped with the things that A was doing to the girls. I felt so bad for Emily getting outed to the whole school and her parents not being accepting. The relationship that is developing between Lucas and Hanna I absolutely love. I can't wait for the next book to find out more about them. Aria is also having the worst luck in this book. My heart goes out to her.

Demon Day by Penelope Fletcher

Age Group: Young Adult
Series: Rae Wilder #2
Genre: Fantasy
Author Website:
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Description: Rae is falling into darkness...

Tracking Devlin and his followers across demon territory, she is forced to turn to the local shifter pack for help. Tricked into rescuing the pack Alpha’s daughters from the Temple, she learns there really is no place more dangerous than home.

Breandan the fairy is done being patient. He wants Rae to stand by his side and refuses any claim they are not destined to be. Unsure, Rae denies him the right to have her, but will the urges of her nature and the strength of their bond allow her to walk away? Then there is Tomas, the alluring vampire who needs her help. But what exactly does he expect of her, and is the cost of helping him worth turning her back on life itself?

Courted by the dark, and in love with the light, Rae must choose her path, or face the burden of Rupturing the world once more.

Review: I thought the first book was good. This one just took it to whole other level. The description is this book is fantastic. I was stressed out while reading this book because I felt everything that Rae was going through. By the end of the book you can tell Rae has grown and matured so much in this book.

Rae has a lot of struggles in this book because she has her bond with Breandan and a blood tie with Tomas. I feel for Rae because you can see she was trying to do the right thing and protect both guys. Also with her struggles to accept who she is supposed to be with only bits and pieces of her past being told to her. I was frustrated that her brother and her mate were only telling her information of her past on a need to know basis, but it kept me so engulfed in the book that I just needed to know more.

I have my idea on how the last book is going to turn out and I'm excited to read it and see how it turns out.

In the ultimate battle between good and evil, will Cassie's supernatural powers be strong enough to lead the coven out of danger? Or will she fall prey to the dark forces within?

...WILL SHE SACRIFICE HER LOVE FOR THE CIRCLE TO SURVIVE?

Review: I really enjoyed this book. It had a great ending and I was happy with the outcome. Her mother and grandmother still did not play a big role in this book, but my unanswered questions were answered, and I liked the outcome.

This book was very suspenseful, and it had me stressed out for Cassie the whole time. I didn't see anything coming which is a good thing because I don't like it when you can predict the outcome from the beginning

It had a good ending, and Cassie did end up with the guy she was supposed to be with, but I really enjoyed the character Nick. I really wanted them to be together because he was so misunderstood and Cassie made him a better person. They had some really great scenes together that made me go AWE

"They'd bitten her, the little monsters. And now they were sitting on the floor and composedly licking the blood off their chops. A surge of violent revulsion passed through Cassie. From the doorway, Faye chuckled. Maybe they're not getting all their vitamins and minerals from the kitten chow," she said.

The Secret Circle: The Initiation and The Captive Part 1

The Secret Circle: The Initiation and The Captive Part 1 by L.J. Smith

Release Date: August 1, 2008
Publisher: Harper Teen
Pages: Paperback (396pgs)
Age Group: Young Adult
Series: The Secret Circle #1-2
Genre: Fantasy
Author Website:
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Description: The circle's power has lured her home
Forced to move from sunny California to gloomy New England, Cassie longs for her old life. Even so, she feels a strange kinship to a terrifying group of teens who seem to rule her school. Initiated into the coven of witches that's controlled New Salem for hundreds of years, she's drawn into the Secret Circle, a thrill that's both intoxicating and deadly. But when she falls for the mysterious and intriguing Adam, Cassie must choose whether to resist temptation or risk dark forces to get what she wants—even if it means that one wrong move could ultimately destroy her.

Review: We meet the main character Cassie on summer vacation in Cape Cod, and then her grandmother that she has never met is ill, so Cassie and her mother move in with her grandmother to take care of her.

Cassie has a laid back personality, but she finds herself going to a new school, and she wants to make friends, and reinvent herself. All she wants to do is be accepted. Which what teenager going to a new High School, and having to start all over doesn't want to be accepted. She learns about "The Club". She becomes friends with the leader of The Club, and later gets initiated, where she discovers she's a witch.

The Club consisted of 12 people including Cassie, and there are a range of different personalities in this group. To me it seems like they all have secrets that they are not telling. I think I have it figured out while I'm reading, and it turns out to be something different. There is also a love triangle between Cassie, Adam, and Diana. In this love triangle it seems that Cassie and Adam have the potential to get into a lot of trouble if their not careful.

The only thing that bothered me was that Cassie's mom and grandmother have not played a bigger role in this book. She learns shes a witch, you would think that the mother and grandmother would give Cassie a run down of their family history, but they haven't. At the end of this book it lead into that the grandmother will tell Cassie in due time. I hope she does in the next book because I want to know the deal behind her family.

Demon Girl by Penelope Fletcher

Publisher: Smashwords
Pages: ebook (191pgs)
Age Group: Young Adult
Series: Rae Wilder #1
Genre: Fantasy
Author Website:
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Description: Rae Wilder has problems. Supernatural creatures swarm the earth, and humanity is on the brink of extinction. Stalked by a handsome fairy who claims she is like him, demonkind, Rae thinks maybe it was a mistake breaking the rules by going over the Wall into demon territory. Plunged into a world of dark magics, fierce creatures, and ritual sacrifice, she is charged with a guarding a magical amulet. The changes to her mind and body are startling, but rather than accept her purpose she struggles against who she is destined to be. Throw in a big lust for a vampire who can't keep his hands off her, and life starts to get complicated. Rae is forced to make the ultimate choice: to live and die human, or embrace her birth-right and wield magics that could turn her into something wicked, a force of nature nothing can control.

Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. I found this book had a Hunger Games feel to it. It had a major event take place, and ever since then, humans lived in a protected area with a wall that protected them from the outside. No one was allowed to go outside the wall, but Rae finder herself able to go outside the wall.

I really enjoyed Rae. She has a lot of attitude and doesn't let anyone take advantage of her. Shes a fighter. The love triangle that she gets into was very interesting.

The description of this book was great. While reading I could see everything taking place in my head. Sometimes  think its hard for authors to give a great description of something without over explaining. I think she did a perfect job of describing the Fea and the world that they live in.
