Review: I was hooked the moment I started reading. The book starts off with someone dying from an unknown illness. Kit and Andy try to solve this mystery of what is causing people to get sick. This book is very fast pace and you get sucked in right away from chapter one and you can't put it down. 

The book was very well written. Donaldson's background in medicine definitely helped with putting the story together. I would recommend this novel for anyone who likes a good mystery.

Review: I really enjoyed this book. There was only one problem I had when I began reading was the beginning of the plot and how Sofia got to The Shade. Once you overcome the little bit of missing information the story really takes life.

There was not a dull moment in the story. You have Derek the prince of the vampires who is conflicted and Sofia who was captured to service Derek. I was reading just for Derek to see how he deals with his inner struggles being around Sofia and not attacking her. 

The development of their relationship was nicely done. Also the books ends with a cliff hanger and I'm hooked. I need to know what happens next.

Review: This book starts off with Lola Montez captured and being interrogated by the police. The police want to get the truth from Lola, so she decides to tell the story from the beginning. Lola is a woman that just wants big things. Wants to be an woman of society, a dancer, and an actress. Unfortunately things don't go that way for her.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. The writing was funny and easy to read. The whole story flowed nicely, and there was not a dull moment. It is an empowering story of a woman taking control of her life. Being courageous and a nice love story. I would recommend it for people who enjoy reading historical novels. When you read this book, it truly brings you into 1842.

Review: I enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick and enjoyable read. The writing and the story flowed nicely. The description of the house and their powers was wonderfully written. It felt like I was actually there experiencing everything.

At moments this did seem a little childish for me. It is great for kids from 10-13 years old. Overall it was a good book and looking forward to future books in the series.

Review: I enjoyed reading this book. It was a page turner and I just couldn't put it down. This story was a little close to home with the events that happened during 9-11 and the trials that took place against the people being charged. 

Ali Hussein is arrested because the US Government believes he is a terrorist. Byron is the lawyer hired to defend him. Byron comes across a lot of hurtles with the government, CIA, and FBI. As I'm reading the story it seemed very real. Paul wrote the story very well, and researched the information to make the story very real. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys realistic thrillers. It was well written and had the facts to back it up.

The lawyers at the Civil Liberties Union who had first contacted Byron told him that, in their limited experience with accused terrorists, it sometimes wasn’t clear what their real names were. There were often no fingerprints or DNA samples that could confirm their identities. The name Ali Hussein was as common as a coin. It was as though genetic markers and their histories began only at the moment of their arrest.

Review: I was given a copy of this book by the author herself. I'm glad that I was given the opportunity to read this book. I absolutely enjoyed it from beginning to end. While reading, there was not a dull moment throughout the book. Intangible is a short, quick read but J. Meyers was able to draw my attention and keep it there while I was reading. It is books like this that remind me why I enjoy reading. 

J. Meyers did a good job on developing her characters. Since it is going to be a series, a writer can not give everything away about their characters. In some ways, she makes Sera and Luke relateable with common events that go on in their lives that have nothing to do with their special abilities. At some point, we have dealt with death of a loved one, or having insecurities in yourself that will cause you to push people away. I know I have experienced these things through the years. 

She also does a great job putting a new twist as what we know the paranormal world to be like. There is a good mix of the paranormal elements, and these twins that are human just like everyone else but have special abilities they have to keep secret from everyone. The ending of the story leads you to believe the story of Sera and Luke is over, however the very last couple of pages leave you on such a cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Review: Please keep in mind everyone has different political views, and everyone has a right to their own opinion. 

I have never read a political book in the past, however I do follow politics and the current electoral campaign. I enjoyed this book very much and very informative. I believe whatever political party a person is a part of will enjoy this book if they keep an open mind. However, this book is geared more for the Democratic party. 

The information provided in this book is information I already knew, and topics you will hear the candidates discuss, but its great to have the statistics and numbers to prove the truth behind the lies. This is information that the conservatives will not provide you with. This is information every American has the right to know. I enjoyed this book so much that I recommended it to my father some coworkers to read. I'm looking forward to the other volumes in the series, and read the other lies.

Review: Over all the this book was good, but I feel that Charlaine is slightly slipping in her story line. That she is just trowing these books together with out staying true to herself. The writing style and characters have changed drastically through out the series.
The last book leaves us off with readers finding out that Eric is promised to marry another vampire. The bond is now broken between Eric and Sookie. Sookie has also cut all ties with Amelia because she talked her into breaking the bond. When Deadlocked came out, I was hoping it would pick up right where it left off and provide more background and details about the bond, Eric's promised wife, and Amelia. Unfortunately this does not happen. 
Amelia makes a one line appearance in this book. We get very little information about the woman Eric is supposed to marry. Deadlocked went more in depth about the love Eric and Sookie have for each other. It was truly put to the test, and in the end we find out where Sookie's heart truly lies. 
I want to say that I never abandon a book once I have stated reading it. Unfortunately half way through I wanted to stop reading. I pushed through and finished, which I am happy I did. The ending was the books saving grace. It left me in anticipation for the next book. If you are someone to who reads a series, even though the latter half of the books have not been up to par. Stick with this one even if you don't like how it turns out. The ending saved it for me, and I plan on reading the next one to see how the series ends.

Review: This book continues with Sydney's journey on protecting Jill while they are in Palm Springs hiding. The last book ends with Keith teaming up with Moroi and selling their blood. We learn what happens to Keith and what the Alchemists have done to him. For the first time Sydney thinks things have finally calmed down and gone back to normal. Normal as things can be in her situation. Sydney is proved wrong, and her life turns upside down by the end of this book. 

I have to say that I enjoyed this book more than Bloodlines. The romance Richelle writes was fantastic. Sydney is new to the dating world, and she is already socially awkward at times. It was fantastic to see how Sydney's character develops in this book. I couldn't help but laugh reading all the things Sydney encounters and needs advice on about dating. I know all girls can relate. At some point we have all been there and asked our friends for advice. 

Adrian is the character that grew the most in the book. I am already an Adrian fan, and my love for him just grew deeper. I feel Adrian is a misunderstood person, and people don't give him enough credit. They have already written him off as the guy who is lazy, procrastinator, and will never amount to anything. Since people already think these things about him, he just lives up to what they think. There is so much more to him, and Richelle lets everyone see it in The Golden Lily. 

Jill and Eddie were more minor characters in the book, but we still see character development with them. Jill has definitely grown up from Bloodlines. Eddie is still Eddie, great as always. February 12, 2013 can not come fast enough for The Indigo Spell which is the next installment of Bloodlines.

Random Thoughts:


This week is going to be a little crazy. We all know Golden Lily by Richelle Mead came out this past Tuesday the 12th. I purchased the book, and I have been trying to finish it as fast as I can. It is common knowledge between my friends that I am not a fast reader. You guys may have picked up on this as you see how long it takes me to finish reading just one book. This is a constant joke among my friends, and they love to give me a hard time for it. But it is especially important that I finish ASAP because I will getting the opportunity to meet Richelle Mead for a book signing tomorrow the 14th in Fort Lauderdale. I am so excited for this rare opportunity. 


So, I plan on getting pictures (if allowed) and post them for everyone, and provide any Q&A that may occur tomorrow. Now the fun part will be choosing which books I want her to sign for me. So many choices.....

Review: This book was recommended to me, and when I read the description I was excited to start reading. I would highly recommend this book to everyone that enjoys a mystery. This book starts with a 10 year old Daniel going with his father to the Cemetery of Forgotten Books where he gets to choose one book that will become his. Daniel discovers The Shadow of the Wind and from that moment on this book becomes his life. 

While reading this book I was very impressed with the character description. I have never read a book where the author provides a lot of background on a each character, and it is cohesive with the story. I fell in love with every character in the story, the good and the bad guys. I developed sympathy for the bad guy in the story and how he became that way. 

There is a great mixture of mystery, history, and love in this story. As we follow Daniel in this story, I couldn't help but get lost inside. I truly felt that I was in Barcelona 1945. I could picture everything as it was happening, and the imagery Carlos gave in his story was fantastic. I can't wait to read the rest of his novels and get lost in his next mystery.
