City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Release Date: April 5, 2011
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry
Pages: Hardcover (424pgs)
Age group: Young Adult
Series: Mortal Instruments #4
Genre: Fantasy

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Description: City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace. As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever.

Meanwhile, internecine warfare among vampires is tearing the Downworld community apart, and only Simon — the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics. Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

Review: Overall this book was good, but it wasn't my favorite in the series. In my opinion this book did have a slow start, and it did not grab my attention until halfway through. When the story line started to pick up I wasn't able to put it down.

There is a new character introduced in this book. His name is Jordan, and I found myself reading just for Jordan. I loved his personality in this book. He was so laid back, and very excepting of the weired things that were happening. Jordan also had a great bromance with Jace, and it was very entertaining to read.

Throughout the book you can tell there was something wrong with Jace. I felt bad for him because you can see that he loved Clary so much, but he was pulling himself away from her. There was a scene between Jace and Clary that just made my jaw drop. It was so shocking.

Also Alec and Magnus come back towards the end of the book. I missed them so much. Next to Clary and Jace, I think they are the cutest couple. I love the bickering between the two of them, and the love they share regardless of all the fighting they do.

There is a big revel that happens at the end of this book that just left me shocked, and I'm excited for the next one. I do hope that it is a little better then this one, and doesn't have a slow start.

On my wishlist this Wednesday is: Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.
Who are the other four mentioned in the prophecy? The answer may lie in another camp miles away, where a new camper has shown up and appears to be the son of Neptune, god of the sea...

Crescendo

Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

Release Date: October 19, 2010
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children Publisher
Pages: Hardcover (427 pgs)
Age Group: Young Adult
Series: Hush Hush #2
Genre: Fantasy
Author Website: www.beccafitzpatrick.com
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Description: Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever and even worse, he's started spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadn't been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feeling that he's hiding something.

Haunted by images of her murdered father, and questioning whether her nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death, Nora puts herself increasingly in dangerous situations as she desperately searches for answers. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts.

Review: This book was amazing. It took me on an emotional roller coaster. The first book was great and laying down the ground work for the characters. In this book I got so emotionally invested in them, and I just couldn't handle all the ups and downs. I was so hooked on this book because I needed to find out what was going to happen in the end.

Patch is more mysterious then ever in this book and I loved it. He had so many secrets in this book that he was hiding from Nora, and I found myself reading just to know what those secrets were.

Nora and Vee were there usual selves in this book. I found Vee a little better in this book, and she didn't get under my skin as much as the last book.

A big reveal happens in this book and becomes a game changer. It sets up the third installment perfectly. There is also a huge cliffhanger at the end of this book, and it left me shocked. The next book cant come out fast enough.

Hush Hush

Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Release Date: October 13, 2009
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Pages: Hardcover (391 pgs)
Age Group: Young Adult
Series: Hush Hush #1
Genre: Fantasy
Author Website: http://www.beccafitzpatrick.com
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Description: For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

Review: I fell in love with this book from the first Chapter. When Patch was introduced I was hooked. This book has a great love story, mystery, and suspense.

Nora is your typical high school good girl. She is trying to get good grades and get into a good college. I could relate to Nora because that was me in high school. There is also Vee who is Nora's best friend. She is not my favorite person in this book, but she has her moments where I sympathize with her.

Patch is a very mysterious, dark, intriguing, sexy guy. His character sucked me into this book. I was reading just to find out more about Patch. I wanted to read to find out what he's hiding, and see how the relationship between Patch and Nora develop.
