Wicked Lovely

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

Release Date: June 12, 2007
Publisher: Harper Teen
Pages: Hardcover (328pgs)
Age Group: YA
Genre: Fantasy

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Description: All teenagers have problems, but few of them can match those of Aislinn, who has the power to see faeries. Quite understandably, she wishes that she could share her friends' obliviousness and tries hard to avoid these invisible intruders. But one faery in particular refuses to leave her alone. Keenan the Summer King is convinced beyond all reasoning that Aislinn is the queen he has been seeking for nine centuries. What's a 21st-century girl to do when she's stalked by a suitor nobody else can see? A debut fantasy romance for the ages; superlative summer read.

Review: I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. All the characters are just fantastic. I love Aislinn. She is a down to earth girl that just wants to go to school and hang out with her friends. She just wants to have a simple life. Unfortunately it does not work out that way for her. She has lived with the ability to see faeries. Everyone in her family has this ability. Throughout the book we discover all the obstacles she has to overcome.

There is a love triangle between Aislinn, Keenan the Summer King, and her friend Seth. I absolutely love Seth. He is my ideal guy. He has tattoos and piercings all over, but he is a kind and understanding person. Seth is very affectionate with Aislinn that I just had to keep reading for him.

The only issue I had with the book is that is jumps back and forth between different perspectives throughout the book. The writing is fantastic and the story just flowed. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Insight Blog Tour

About the author: Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she'd never been, introduce her to people she's never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.

Description: Some say that dreams are the doorway to the soul. Willow Haywood is no stranger to that doorway. Each night she shares a blissful, silent dream with a stunning blue-eyed boy. With each new moon she is haunted by a painful nightmare shared with a different boy, who’s always hidden by the shadows.
In her waking hours she must battle her sixth sense. The one that allows her to feel others emotions as if they were her own. This insight is exhausting and frustrating causing her to draw inward, only trusting her family and few close friends. Oddly, this sense also attracts ghostly images that seem to appear out of nowhere. With a touch, they take her to wherever they may be, allowing her to change their emotion. This alone would cause most to go insane, but Willow filters her aggression by painting, capturing the emotion she changed.
One August night a nightmare came days after the new moon. In this dream the shadowed boy marked her wrist with star, leaving her father no choice but to share a family secret that would tie all of the odd attributes of Willow’s life together. Now, she has no choice but to outrun the fate that is closing in around her.
In an attempt to lure her, the shadowed figure captures her closest friends. In order to save them, she must weave through broken myths, half truths, and the undeniable power of the Zodiac. With each step she takes Willow comes to realize that she has lived before, her path is one that she chose, and this trial is simply the beginning.

Review: I absolutely loved the main characters Willow and Landen. Willow is this down to earth artistic teenager that everyone loves. She did not have your normal up bringing. She has a special ability. She can feel the emotions of the people around her. Also she sees images of people that need her help to find peace.

Landen is strong and handsome with gorgeous eyes. He too has special abilities. He can sense what peoples intentions are. The love story between Willow and Landen is great. I absolutely love it. I enjoyed reading the love story between them and how it was written. Its sweet and romantic.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a great easy read. I have never read a book where they base things off a person zodiac sign. It was interesting how they discussed the planets alignments when a person was born. Also how people live in different dimensions, and they can travel to find their true love. I really liked the imagery in this book. As I was reading I could see all this happening in my head very vividly. I love it when I read books that are like that because I get to lose myself while I'm reading.

Description: Not many Scorpio’s are known for their patience, and Willow Haywood is no different. Her only desire is to love Landen Chambers and redeem the lost souls of Esterious, but the path to that desire is long, dark and dangerous...

Before Willow’s life had a chance to balance the sudden revelations and grief she had to endure to get to Chara a disturbing discovery is made. A photo, one that shows Willow blissfully embracing the flawless image of Drake Blakeshire; giving her not only proof that she had lived before, but that she had loved him.

Running away from the memory of Drake’s hypnotizing touch, and the prophecy set before her seemed like the logical thing to do. That is, until a dark dream reignites her passion to save the hopeless dimension of Esterious. Willow struggles to find patience – to learn everything she needs to know before she faces Drake again, but her eagerness is dangerous and one step in the wrong direction takes everything and everyone away from her – the only way to survive this trial is for Willow to remember who she is and what she really wants out of this life.

Review: If the first book wasn't good this book meet the same expectations. Landen and Willow are once again faced with another trial about their love for each other. Within this book the plot does thicken and there a lot of more twist and turns to test their love.

In this book Drake does play a bigger role in the story, and you learn that there is more to Drake. He was not my favorite person in the first book, but you do begin to feel a little more sympathy for him.

Overall this was a great book too read. I absolute enjoy the love story between Landen and Willow. Also the love they share with their family and friends. Its not something we see in our society today, so it was nice to read a book where the characters are just genuinely kind and loving.

Cruel illusions are placed before Willow, but that is not even hardest part…what is hard is standing in room with Drake and Landen and listening to others tell you of lives that you cannot recall…for them to tell when and how you are going to die.
Every prediction and theory is about to be proven wrong…and the choice before Willow’s heart holds the lives of millions at stake. The question is will be she be able to see through the illusions before her and make a choice…she can live with?

Review: This series just got better for me in this book. Out of the three this one has to be my favorite so far. The suspense in this book was very high. I felt like I was on pins and needles while Landen and Willow were getting ready to start their next trial. I had so many emotions going through me while reading. I thought I had everything figured out and I get thrown off.

My love for these characters just grows so much in this book. You do discover more about Drake and his past in this book, and my dislike for him is officially gone. He is just a misunderstood character and people don't give him enough credit.

I'm very excited for the next book in the series. It had a great ending leading up to another trail, and I'm excited to find out what it is, and how will Willow and Landen over come it.
